Year 6

Welcome to Year 6, this will probably be the hardest year in primary school but if you work hard the rewards will be immense!

Secondary Schools

All children have now found out which secondary school they have been allocated, if you have any concerns about the school your child has been given please contact the admissions department of the local authority you live in.

As the Spring term moves on we are getting deeper and deeper into revision for SATs and the expectation on every child is for them to do their very best so they don't let themselves down.

Booster sessions are held each week for reading, maths and GPS in small groups to tackle focussed tasks to help with test type questions.

If your child is showing any anxiety or concern relating to the work covered in class or the thought of tests please contact school to make an appointment with Mrs Pollitt or Miss Philpotts who will work with you to help your child.

It is VITALLY important that children are in school every day this year, the expectations set by school and the government for year 6 pupils are very high and often there is only one chance to learn each topic covered. Of course we appreciate that all children are ill at sometime, please inform the office if your child is unable to come to school on the FIRST day of absence. If your child is going to be off for a longer period of time please call in and we will arrange work to be completed at home.

Writing Quality Mark

Year 6 have four writing champions who assist Mrs Pollitt and Mrs Cottom in making sure that writing is an enjoyable process and that everyone is aware of what school is doing for writing. They are Louie, Cara, Courtney and Treesha. Most recently they helped to lead our parent workshops for key stages 1 and 2.

We are very proud of our writing area and are keen to use it.
