The General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR] is a piece of legislation which will determine how people's personal data is processed and kept safe, and the legal rights individuals have in relation to their own data.
The new legislation will apply from 25th May 2018 to organisations that process or handle personal data, including schools.
It is similar to the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1988 in many ways. Most of the differences involve the GDPR strengthening the principles of the Data Protection Act (DPA 1988). It will make personal information even more confidential than it already is under the DPA.
The Regulation affects all countries in the European Union, but will remain British Law following Brexit.
We will include aspects of GDPR in the IT and computing curriculum so that your children will learn how to protect their privacy and online prescence in our highly technological world.
As a school we ensure we are compliant by our:
- Policy and Procedures
- Privacy Notices
- Data Protection Impact Assessments and Audits
